35th Douzelage Conference in Sušice 29th April – 2nd May 2010

The municipality of Sušice and Douzelage Committee are proud to host 35th Douzelage Conference, which will take place in Sušice 29th April – 2nd May 2010. The Sušice Douzelage Committee is going to prepare you warm welcome.

Please name a person as a co-ordinator of each Douzelage town by 1st November 2009.
Delegations
We are inviting a group of five people from each member town as the official delegation:
- two people for the General Meeting
- one person for the Education Meeting
- two youth delegates aged 18 plus to participate in the Youth Workshop
We are inviting two people from each observer town (Siret - Romania, Celje - Slovenia)
Other guests are welcome. They will contribute to the costs of their stay (details in a future Newsletter). We hope to accommodate all participants in hotels and boarding houses, youth will be accommodated in the local youth hostel.
The main theme:
Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion in Europe - Peoples´ Wellbeing in Europe – Impact of Globalization and Economic Crisis and EU policies on EU citizens.
The Theme of the Education Meeting:
Institutions Dealing with Leisure Time Activities of the Youth -
Each delegation is asked to have a presentation on this topic about the experience in the member town.
The Theme of the Youth Workshop:
Impact of Human Activities on the Environment in Protected Nature Areas
Each delegation is asked to have a presentation on this topic about the experience in the region (country).
The themes have been chosen according to themes recommended by EU.
Transport
The nearest airport is in Prague (150 km from Sušice). Participants will be brought to Sušice by bus (Details of costs in a future Newsletter)
Delegations are asked to contribute to the International Dinner.
In terms of celebrating the Day of Europe, we would be glad if some towns could contribute by a short (5 minute) programme to the Saturday's European Cultural Evening.
Douzelage presidential elections
Send your nominations for the President and Vice-President to Vera Svobodova (appointed as the Returning Officer in the Altea Conference) by 1st March 2010.
